After Christmas of 2018 (which also happened to be my 29th birthday) I was feeling pretty down. I guess it was due in part to the implied significance of the number 29, and the subsequently impending 30. I'm sure that when I turn 39, I'll feel ridiculous for thinking that way.

Anyway, I had been kicking a few different metaphorical cans down the road as I was trying to figure out what my next move in life was going to be.

On something of a whim, I decided it wouldn't hurt to take one final swing at an opportunity I was certain had already passed me by years ago. I applied online to teach English in Japan.

A handful of interviews and a couple of weeks later, I happily accepted a job offer.

As of now there's not much left to do besides pack, and get this blog in working condition. My hope is to chronicle as much of the upcoming journey as possible here.

So I hope you'll enjoy a look around, and thanks for stopping by.

Oh, and one last thing - that awesome photo of Mount Fuji was gifted to unsplash by Clay Banks. You should check him out.
