Hey YoruKanji,

I'm glad you are enjoying the blog. :) 頑張ってね！As for the question about clothes, when I went down to Tokyo I saw quite a few girls dressed in the lolita fashions, but I don't recall seeing anyone doing visual kei (to be honest I've only managed to visit Akihabara).

February 2009?!?! Aw man...I want to be a foreign exchange student too. Your blog has inspired me to keep learning Japanese in case my wish comes true in the next year or so.

Random question: Have you seen anyone wearing Visual Kei or Lolita?

Joe, I came upon your website by accident about 2 months ago and check in from time to time. I am an American living in Tokyo (for the past 5 months) with my Japanese wife. Congrats on extending your stay in Japan. I see from you blogs that you are enjoying the food here in Japan. I really enjoy your blogs and look forward to the next.

Thanks for the responses guys! Yes, it is extremely hot here. Well, it's not so much that it's hot (it's about the same temperature as Maine, actually), but the humidity is nuts. Yesterday, and much like any other day, I was just sitting in my room with the sweat just pouring off of me.

@Nnatta and Jespho, I hope you guys can make it here safely and have a great time! If you ever find yourself up in the Aomori prefecture, send me a message and maybe we can hook up.

@Yokohama, haha, you're right. Japan has sucked me in. But I made my decision from an academic perspective, too. I feel like I'm only just now starting to get comfortable having conversations in Japanese and not having to struggle for basic sentences and structures.

So how hot is it there? It's been pretty hot and humid here lately, which is super annoying at work with the lack of air conditioning and my lack of shorts. D: Today was okay, though, much better than it has been lately.

Hey man,

Been reading your blog from the start - good stuff. I enjoy reading 'cos I'm heading out to Japan myself at the end of this summer for a study year abroad, so your experiences are a bit of a taster for what I'll be getting up to I guess.

KUTGW, and update more often!

By the way, I'm pretty sure if you're from Maine, it is very likely you find Japanese summer difficult to bear ;)

Being the one who wants to be an exchange student in Japan, I found your blog very interesting! Also, I think it's really awesome that you are an American interested in Japan and Japanese culture. Most Americans I know don't really take an interest in other cultures very much!

Keep blogging and I'll keep reading!

I see the length of stay has increased to February 2009. This is how it starts :P You are home now, best to come out and admit it to yourself. It goes a lot smoother if you just lie back and accept it. ;)
